Auto repair in the United States is split between independent shops, dealership service departments and national chains. Independents handle most routine work (oil changes, brakes, tune-ups, check-engine diagnostics) at lower labor rates and often specialize in one make or in imports; dealers keep factory tools, software and warranty authority; chains sell speed and standard pricing on maintenance items. Most shops charge a diagnostic fee, credited toward the repair if you go ahead, and quote parts and labor separately. Certification matters: look for ASE-certified technicians and, in many states, a state repair license posted at the counter. Written estimates are required by law in most states before work begins, and you are entitled to your old parts if you ask.
Hours are published for 5 days a week. Typical hours are 8:30 amβ5:30 pm. Note that it does not open on Saturday, Sunday. Midland is in Texas, in the South, where summers are hot and humid, winters are short, and severe storms in spring are a fact of life; businesses run air conditioning most of the year and many open early to beat the heat. Getting around Midland is easiest by car; street parking is metered in busy downtown areas, and most suburban businesses have their own lot. Ride-share apps such as Uber and Lyft operate across Texas's larger cities, and public transit varies from extensive to minimal.

I had a seal come loose during a ~350 mile drive and had to get it immediately repaired before continuing on. This shop was the only one in the entirety of Midland that was even willing to take a look at it the same week. I told him the exact problem, but upon his inspection he also fixed the root cause of the problem. He performed the needed repairs within one hour at the crack of dawn and at a fair price.

I had the worst experience ever releated to a repair shop. Transmittion had issues and took the truck to this shop, the diagnosed and fixed after 2 weeks from getting it into the shop, and I was told that the problem was the transmission pump. After 900 miles after truck repaired it started doing the same thing like before getting it fixed, so I took it back to the same shop because the job had warranty. This second time that the truck was in the shop stayed 2 months just sitting there at the shop's parking lot and they didn't even bother on looking at it. I was going at least 2 times a week to ask if he already have time to diagnose or do something on the truck, he used to tell me everytime that He was gonna look at it the next morning but that never happened in 2 months. Long story short I hauled off that shop after 2 months and took it to a different shop in Odessa, so in my personal experience I would never ever recomend this shop to any of my friends or family. They need to be straight and fair with every customer, and abously they are not. Probably they were a good shop in the past according the the reviews he has, but they are a good shop anymore, liars and unprofessional fr

Marshall and midland transmission and gear are an awesome bunch of folks. They put a new engine in my chevy pickup, and even worked overtime to get it done in a timely fashion. I would recommend them to anyone needing their vehicle worked on. Marshall is a straight shooter and will be upfront with the price and turn around time.

Had my brothers truck for about 3 months. Took Thier sweet time to fix it. Starter bolt was broken in block. Had to tow it home after getting gas. messed with air intake system, bent screw for air filter, drained battery dead. Tried calling them but won't answer phone. Transmission missing a bolt. wouldn't recommend them to anyone.

My transmission was shot in my work truck. No truck, no pay. Marshall had my transmission rebuilt and installed in 2 days. He was upfront about the price and it was very reasonable. I am well pleased. Marshall has a customer for life.
